What do people think of the Oblongs? Article about The Oblongs in the San Francisco Chronicle It will take a certain bent of mind -- all right, a bent mind -- to chuckle at "The Oblongs." If you liked "Family Guy" and "South Park," or at least one of them, you might cozy up to "The Oblongs." - The San Francisco Chronicle. "The Oblongs" is an animated show falling somewhere between "The Simpsons" and Tod Browning's "Freaks." - The San Francisco Chronicle. "Twisted."- Newsweek. Please don't cancel the Oblongs!!!! The most innovative animated show since the Simpsons and South Park! It is a wildly entertaining show!!!!!!!!!! -Cathleen Haas The Oblongs is by far the most original and funny show to come on tv in a long time! -Lucy Cioe Very disturbing, and damn funny. Funniest new cartoon since "Clerks"! -chris peacock the Oblongs is the funniest cartoon ive ever seen in my life. funnier than the Simpsons even. -Nikkia Hill The Oblongs is perhaps one of the best animated series to hit the airwaves since The Simpsons. It is relevant to the issues of the day while still retaining its humor. Perhaps placing this show in a better time slot, thusly introducing it to a larger audience may allow the show to receive the credit and attention it deserves. In my personal opinion, this show is both marketable and entertaining--a profitable combination in the entertainment industry. Perhaps contributing my voice to this small, albeit worthy cause will help make the Warner Bros. network aware of the potential gold mine they have on their hands. Thank you. -T. Holston This is the best cartoon ever!~~~~~!!!!!!!!!! -Justin J. This is the next Simpsons!!! -Rhiannon Vaughn 'Oblongs' is the best new animated show I've seen in years. Give it a chance. Could be 'Simpsons' for the 21st century. Writing and animation are excellent. It's basically the ONLY WB show I watch. -Mike Wilhoit The Oblongs has to be one of the funniest shows on today. It's become part of our Sunday night routine. -Scott Long This show is funny as HELL!! Every episode was hilarious! Innovative, creative and hilarious..why aren't the ratings higher? -Allyson Imai More Links: |

The Oblongs is by far one of the funniest and most twisted animated shows ever!!! The Oblongs is brought to you by the producers of "The Drew Carey Show," "Norm," "Nikki" and "Six Feet Under", one of the writers/producers for "The Simpsons." Combined with the twisted humor of cartoonist Angus Oblong, author of "Creepy Susie and 13 Other Tragic Tales for Troubled Children" and the voice of Saturday Night Live's Will Ferrell, this show has become and instant classic and hailed by many as "the funniest show on television." If you like The Simpsons, South Park and The Family Guy, you will love The Oblongs. Unfortunately, due to a run of bad decisions made by the WB, The Oblongs was cancelled mid season. But with the help of a large, angry fanbase, Cartoon Network took notice, picked up the show and aired it on Adult Swim. It debuted at #1 in its time spot. If you love The Oblongs as much as myself, then you should buy the DVD at Amazon.com.

Who Are the Oblongs? The Oblongs are a physically deformed
& socially inept family living in a town called HillValley. Pickles (Voiced
by the lovely & talented Jean Smart.) is a boozing, bald headed, wig-wearing
floozy happily married to the love of her life, Bob Oblong. (SNL’s hilarious
Will Ferrell.) Bob is an upbeat, moralistic, pipe smoking father right out
of any typical 1950’s sit com. Without arms or legs. Milo is a social reject as are his
friends, Peggy the Mutant, the girl with no lower jaw & one dangly little
booby in the center of her chest, Helga (Voiced by lezzie, Lea Delarea),
Mikey Butts whose butt cheeks sag down below his knees & Creepy Susie, (Mikey
& Susie both also voiced by Ellias.) morbid goth girl who - for no mentioned
reason - floats 6 inches above the ground. No kid at school will befriend
this group of ugly rejects, so they must find companionship with eachother,
gathering in their clubhouse in Milo’s backyard every day after school.
Other Notes: Mary V. Buck and Susan Edelman are the winners of The Casting Society of America's, award for "Best Casting for Animated Television Voiceover" for The Oblongs. The Oblongs is inspired by characters in the book "Creepy Susie and 13 Other Tragic Tales for Troubled Children" by Angus Oblong. Milo, Susie, Helga, the Debbies, and Milo's Narcoleptic Scottie all originated in this book, which is aimed at adults in the guise of a children's book. Buy the book that started it all -tvtome.com |
